How Odds Work: Probability, Fair Odds and 3 Odds Sets
How decimal odds relate to probability, what fair odds are and how a daily 3 odds set is built.
Explained
Decimal odds and probability are two views of the same thing: fair odds = 1 ÷ probability. A 62% prediction has fair odds of about 1.61.
A '3 odds' set multiplies the odds of several games: 1.30 × 1.45 × 1.62 ≈ 3.05. Every game must be right for the set to land, so the chance of the whole set is the product of the chances.
Market odds include a margin, so they are lower than fair odds. We show market figures only as unattributed reference numbers next to our own probability.
